You must time stamp all one-way, transfer and continuing trip tickets purchased from TVMs in validation machines before boarding the light rail cars. Validated tickets are good for 2 hours. Tickets purchased from NJ TRANSIT bus operators already indicate the time/date and do not need to be time stamped in validation machines. Monthly passes do not need to be time stamped.

Validation machines are located near TVMs on platforms at each station. To time stamp your ticket, insert it into the validation machine with the print side up and NJ TRANSIT’s logo facing to the left. The machine will print an expiration time/date stamp on the ticket.

Using TVMs, you can select the Fast Fare or the Reduced Fare key to purchase either an adult one-way or a reduced fare (for senior citizens or customers with disabilities tickets). It’s a quick and easy way to buy tickets with cash.

In the event of a TVM malfunction, an adjustment receipt will be issued from the machine. Adjustment receipts should be mailed for processing. If no adjustment receipt is issued, report the malfunction by calling 1-800-315-8986. (6 a.m. to 10 p.m., daily, after hours leave a message.)
